About GUTAID

GUTAID (Gut in Autoimmune Diseases) is a curated, literature-backed database focused on gut microbial antigens with immunogenic potential that have been implicated in various autoimmune diseases. The idea for GUTAID emerged during a metagenomic study of rheumatoid arthritis, where we observed a significant gap in understanding the specific mechanisms through which the gut microbiome contributes to autoimmunity. Recognizing this as a broader challenge across multiple autoimmune conditions, we systematically collected and organized data from published literature where microbial antigens were shown to play a role in triggering immune responses.

All sequences in GUTAID are sourced from UniProt, and each entry is supported by multiple peer-reviewed studies. The database includes additional metadata such as antigen source organism, disease association, mechanism of action, sequence length ranges, and immunogenic confirmation.Sequence headers follow a custom naming convention to enable easier downstream analysis. GUTAID aims to serve as a central resource for researchers exploring host-microbiome interactions in autoimmunity and seeking to identify key microbial antigens involved in immune dysregulation.

Explore the world of antigens like never before with GUTAID — where data meets discovery.
